HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 3682RESOLUTION NO. 3682 APPROVING AND ADOPTING CLASS SPECIFICATIONS AND SALARY RANGE FOR THE CLASSIFICATION OF ELECTRICIAN. RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Lodi that the class specifications and salary range for the classification of Eiectrician, a copy of which is annexed hereto and made a part hereof as if set forth in full herein, are hereby approved and adopted as class specifications and salary range in the classified personnel system of the City of Lodi and said specifications and salary range shall apply as of October 1, 1972. FURTHER RESOLVED, that Resolution No. 1990 and all other resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of any duplication or conflict herewith. Dated: October 4, 1972 I hereby certify that Resolution No. 3682 was passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Lodi in regular meeting held October 4, 1972 by the following vote: Ayes: Councilmen - Hughes, Katnich, Pinkerton, Schaffer and Ehrbardt Noes: Councilmen - None 2 Absent: Councilmen - None 3682 City of Lodi ELECTRICIAN DEFINITION r September, 1972 Under direction to perform skilled work in electrical construction and main- tenance of the municipal electric system and related facilities; and to do related work as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Installs, services, tests and repairs lights, transformers, ballasts, switches, motors, air-conditioning units, street lights, fire alarm systems, traffic signals and other simiiar electrical devices; performs substation electrical maintenance work on substation controls, automatic recording instruments, voltage regulators, transformers, relays, telemetering and supervisory equip- ment; maintains water production and sewage plant equipment such as motor control and automatic switchgear, storm and sewage pumps; installs and maintains well starters and related automatic control equipment such as high-voltage circuit breakers, air switches, control wires and protective relays, installs meters and electric service wires; removes, repairs and sets meters; answers emergency and trouble calls concerning burned -out fuses, replacement of broken wires or light standards, performs trouble -shooting on electrical devices; cleans, lubricates and inspects electrical equipment; assists in splicing cables; assists in the main- tenance of telemetering, pilot wire equipment and City -owned and leased communi- cations equipment; locate and make recommendations to correct radio interference; evaluates residential and commercial emergency problems at night or on weekends whenever necessary; instructs and trains apprentices in techniques of the trade. T.TC'FNCF. Possession of a valid California Operator's License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: Types of tools, methods and materials used in electrical work; General fundamentals of electrical theory; Precautions necessary in working with high voltage lines; Principles of the operation and repair of pumping equipment; Safe work practices and procedures; Electrical wiring codes. and Ability to: Demonstrate a high degree of aptitude for electrical and mechanical work; Learn and perform maintenance, trouble -shooting and repair work on a wide variety of electrical equipment and devices; ' ` f Electrician --a 2 DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS - Cont'd. Understand and carry out written and oral instructions; Read and interpret electrical drawings, plans and diagrams; Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees and the public. and Experience: Attainment of journeyman status through apprentice training as an Apprentice Electrician (usually48 months of experience. ) r,,-- -- 1 --- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
