HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 3653RESOLUTION NO. 3653 STATING THE CITY OF LOCI'S INTENT TO JOIN WITH ASAG AND OTHER COMMUNITIES IN THE GREATER BAY AREA TO SEEK PUBLIC AalD PRIVATE FUNDING TO CARRY OUT FIELD TRIALS OF THE SPUP./FRAC SOLID WASTES PLAN AND TO UNDERII K�, OTHER REGIONAL SOLID WASTES PLANNING EFFORTS WHEREAS, the 10,000,000 tons of solid waste generated in the San Francisco Bay region pose a large and growing environmental and resource conservation problem; and WHEREAS, the problem cannot be adequately solved by individual local jurisdiction since serious resource recovery efforts and sound environmental management programs require regional consideration; and WiiEP.EAS, the so-called SPUR/ABAG Plan appears to be a promising and imaginative proposal to solve the solid wastes problem of the Bay region, while at the same time preventing the recurrence of the recent catastrophes in the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta by using composted solid Waste materials for diking and raising of land levels; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Lodi intends to join with other communities to seek public and private funding for the purpose of undertaking pilot scale field trials of the Solid wastes Plan and to carry on other short range regional solid wastes planning efforts -intended to assist local communities in solving their solid wastes problem in an environmantalLy acceptable manner, placing major emphasis on resource recovery.
