HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 3575RESOLUTION NO. 3575 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LODI TO QUALIFY THE CITY OF LODI FOR FEDERAL FLOOD AND MUDSLIDE INSURANCE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lodi believes that flood and mudslide insurance would be greatly beneficial to residents within our City: and WHEREAS, the Federal Insurance Administration is offering protection under its "emergency program" which would allow City residents to purchase insurance to cover floods and mudslides: and WHEREAS, this Council would like to show its expression of interest by submitting the following information to the Federal Insur- ance Administration: Copies of this official legislative action indicating a local need for flood insurance and a desire to participate in the Federal flood insurance program. Copies of Ordinance No. 943, establishing a Floodplain District and regulating land use therein. Copies of a summary of Section 8710 of the California Water Code (1951) requiring the approval of the State Reclamation Board for certain projects in and near the floodplains of the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers or any of their tributaries. Citations, by reference of the legal authority necessary for State and local actions regulating land use and a citation .of adopted building codes. A current Flood Hazard Report prepared for the City of Lodi by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in August, 1970. WHEREAS. this Council does give assurance of future compli- ance and pledges to submit the following assurances in the form of action to the Federal Insurance Administration, including: To recognize and duly evaluate flood hazards in all official actions relating to land u5e in the flood plain areas having special flood hazards. To take such other official action as may be reasonably necessary to carry out the objectives of the program, such actions including the following: a. Assisting the Administrator. at his request, in delineating the limits of the floodplain having special flood hazard on available local maps of sufficient scale to identify the location of building sites. ,3-,r 7,,s- :tea-�•.`�.�,.-. ,. _. _'-��;•.-zs:.. r_.�`—�'.,'s.�^-, b. After flood insurance is made available, furnishing repre- sentatives of appropriate Federal or State agencies or of the National Flood Insurers Association information. as requested, concerning new or substantially improved struc- tures within the area of special flood hazard. This information will include floor elevations, and ii there is a basement, the distance between the first floor and the bottom of the lowest opening where water flowing on the ground will enter.
