AGENDA TITLE: Authorize City Manager to Submit Reduce Motor Vehicle Emissions (REMOVE) Grant
Applications for Alternatively -Fueled Vehicles

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That City Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to
submit four REMOVE grant applications for alternatively -fueled vehicles (AFV's) to
the San Joaquin Unified Air Pollution Control District.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The City of Lodi, and similar -size municipalities, may soon be mandated to
purchase a certain percentage of ultra-low or zero -emission vehicles. In
anticipation of possible mandates, the City of Lodi has acquired REMOVE,
Petroleum Violation Escrow Account (PVEA), and FTA funds for a
compressed natural gas (CNG) station and seven CNG engine conversions for the transit fleet. To encourage the
City of Lodi to move towards AFV's, REMOVE applications have been prepared to acquire funds for the following
four projects:
Lease four electric vehicles for three years $ 65,376
Public Benefits Account (98/99 Budget) $ 20,800
Reduce Motor Vehicle Emissions (REMOVE) $ 44,576
Lease one electric vehicle for three years $ 16,344
Reduce Motor Vehicle Emissions (REMOVE) $ 16,344

A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT FOUR "REDUCE MOTOR
VEHICLE EMISSIONS" (REMOVE) APPLICATIONS FOR
ALTERNATIVELY -FUELED VEHICLES (AFV's) TO THE SAN
JOAQUIN VALLEY UNIFIED AIR POLLUTION CONTROL
DISTRICT
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lodi City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to
submit four (4) "Reduce Motor Vehicle Emissions" (REMOVE) Applications for
Alternatively -fueled Vehicles to the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control
District to assist with the following four projects:
