A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL
AUTHORIZING SUBMITTALS OF SAFE ROUTES TO
SCHOOL GRANTS TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION
WHEREAS, Safe Routes to School coordinates the movement of students to
school while actively promoting healthy lifestyles by encouraging alternatives to vehicle
travel to school; and
WHEREAS, staff, working together with Lodi Unified School District, proposes to
apply for two grants for two locations in the City of Lodi; and
WHEREAS, the proposed projects are as follows:
1) Woodbridge Frontage improvements - aiding access to
Woodbridge Middle School
2) Pacific Avenue to Lodi Avenue Extension — a new road extending
Pacific Avenue to Lodi Avenue at Lodi High School
WHEREAS, these grants offer a unique opportunity to improve corridors
throughout the City that children access to attend school.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby
authorize the submittals of Safe Routes to School Grants to the California Department of
Transportation; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized and
directed to execute grant applications for the Safe Routes to School Grants.
