A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL APPROVING APPLICATION
TO THE SAN JOAQUIN COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS FORA CONGESTION
MITIGATION AND AIR QUALITY GRANT FOR THE PURCHASE OF TEN (10)
COMPRESSED NATURAL GAS DIAL -A -RIDE VEHICLES, AND FURTHER
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE GRANT APPLICATION
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF LODI
WHEREAS, the Transit Division is in need of vehicle replacements for several existing
transit vehicles. These vehicles, while still operable, have exceeded their useful life and have
become increasingly costly to maintain; and
WHEREAS, the grant would replace the five remaining gasoline -fueled vehicles in our fleet
with new compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles, and this replacement would complete the
conversion of the transit fleet to CNG; and
WHEREAS, in addition, staff is applying for an additional five vehicles to assist with the
increasing demand for service, as well as to allow older vehicles to be moved into a reservefleet to
be available when active vehicles go in for regularly -scheduled maintenance or are involved in an
accident; and
WHEREAS, the grant application requests $600,000 in funding with a $200,000 local match
from the Transit fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council hereby approves
application for a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Grant to the San Joaquin Council of
Governments for the purchase of ten (10) CNG Dial-A-Ridevehicles; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council hereby authorizes the City
Manager to execute the Grant Application on behalf of the City of Lodi.
