AGENDA TITLE: Presentation by the Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission
Regarding Honoring Teens program.
MEETING DATE: February 17, 1999

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Presentation.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission, in
conjunction with the Lodi Sunrise Rotary Club, Christopher J. Olsen, American Express
Financial Advisors, and Central Valley Waste Services is sponsoring a program entitled
Honoring Teens. The Lodi Youth Commission Leadership Committee selects one teen
to be awarded Teen of the Month from the applications submitted to the commission
from the general public, various schools, and church groups. This month's Teen of the
Month is Lindsay Thomas from Tokay High School and the Honorary Teen of the
Month is Ngoc Nguyen from Tokay High School.

February Teen of the Month
Lindsay Thomas is a senior at Tokay High. Lindsay has received Principal Awards, is a
Hugh O'Brian Award Finalist and has received Honors in several areas of her academic
career. She has volunteered for the CIA Can Food and Toy Drive, participates in
recycling pick ups, organized visits to Mary Graham Hall, is a Mentor at Tokay high and
a Davis Elementary, Athletically Lindsay is on the Varsity Cross Country Team, Varsity
Soccer Team Captain, Varsity Track Team and the Water Polo Team Captain,
February Honorary Teen of the Month
Ngoc Nguyen is a junior from Tokay High. Ngoc has received straight A's in an honors
program through highschool thus far. She is currently working as a SIP representative
making presentations to the students about the detrimental effects of drug use.
