HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2004-242RESOLUTION NO. 2004-242 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL APPROVING SPECIFICATIONS, AUTHORIZING ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS, AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AWARD OR REJECT THE BIDS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A HEAVY-DUTY ELECTRIC FLOOR SCRUBBER, NOT TO EXCEED $12,000 WHEREAS, the Parks Division is responsible for the floor maintenance of the hardwood basketball courts and other recreational -use facilities at the Grape Festival and National Guard Armory; and WHEREAS, regular cleaning of the hardwood floor is critical to prolonging the life of the finished surfaces while upkeep of other areas is an essential part of providing clean facilities for public use; and WHEREAS, the Parks Division currently uses a small electric floor scrubber, which is only capable of cleaning one basketball floor before requiring a battery recharge: and WHEREAS, staff is required to transport the scrubber back and forth between the Grape Festival and the National Guard Armory; and WHEREAS, the Boosters of Boys/Girls Sports has offered a grant of $3,500 and the Electric Utility Department has offered to provide funding in the amount of $5,000 toward the purchase of a second scrubber; and WHEREAS, staff has identified two makes of floor scrubbers that would be ideal for the facilities and, therefore, recommends going out to bid and requests that the City Manager be authorized to award or reject the bids up to an amount of $12,000. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby approve the specifications and authorize advertisement for bids for a heavy-duty electric floor scrubber; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council further authorizes the City Manager to award or reject the bids up to $12,000.
