HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2004-203RESOLUTION NO, 2004-203 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AMENDING THE PUBLIC BENEFITS PROGRAM GRANT — LODI APPLIANCE REBATE PROGRAM WHEREAS, the state has mandated that beginning January 1, 1998, the City of Lodi is obligated to fund various programs through a Public Benefits Charge (PBC) based on an historical electric revenue requirement; and WHEREAS, the requirement amounts to approximately $1 million per year that must be dedicated to qualifying programs such as energy efficiency. A further stipulation is that these efforts must be done on the customer's side of the meter in order to quality; and WHEREAS, the City of Lodi's Public Benefits Program is comprised of four segments or customer groups: commercial/industrial, residential, community/non-profit, and municipal; and WHEREAS, for the past five years, the City of Lodi via the Public Benefits Program, has provided rebates to Lodi electric utility customers for the purchase of designated and approved energy efficient appliances (including: EnergyStar0 refrigerators, EnergyStare dishwashers, manual defrost freezers, single -room air conditioners, and front-loading/EnergyStar® clothes washers); and WHEREAS, the program requires that the aforementioned energy efficient appliances be purchased at one of the existing six Lodi appliance retailers (these include: Anderson Maytag, Ben's Appliance, FILCO of Lodi, Kundert & Bauer, Les' Appliance, and Reo's Appliance); and WHEREAS, Electric Utility staff is requesting that a seventh Lodi retailer by added to this rebate program: Lowe's Companies, Inc. This new Lodi retailer will officially open its doors to consumers this month, and Lowe's carries a line of energy efficient home appliances, which will be eligible for customer rebates under current program guidelines. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council hereby amends the Public Benefits Program Grant for the Lodi Appliance Rebate Program as set forth below. 1) Eligible participants must be City of Lodi Electric Utility customers; 2) The program will be offered until funds are exhausted; 3) The maximum rebate per customer service address is $250.00; 4) Rebates include $50.00 for refrigerators, $50.00 for manual defrost freezers, $100,00 for front -load clothes washers, $25.00 for single -room air conditioners, and $25.00 for dishwashers; and 5) The approved, energy efficient appliance(s) must be purchased at one of the following Lodi retailers: Anderson Maytag, Ben's Appliance, FILCO of Lodi, Kundert & Bauer, Les' Appliance, Reo's Appliance, and Lowe's Companies, Inc. (of Lodi).
