HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2003-170RESOLUTION NO. 2003-170 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF SAFARI RECREATION MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE FOR USE BY THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, Lodi Municipal Code §3.20.070 authorizes dispensing with bids for purchases of supplies, services, or equipment when it is in the best interests of the City to do so; and WHEREAS, in 1997 the Parks and Recreation Department purchased RecWare Pro, an automated recreation management software product that is used for activity registration, child care program management, and facility management; and WHEREAS, this product is based on a module concept with each module acting as a separate product. The modules have presented several time-consuming challenges to staff in the areas of accounting, multi -tasking with the ability to open only one module at a time, data collection, and tracking of certain transactions; and WHEREAS, the makers of RecWare Pro have introduced a new line of recreation management software called Safari which utilizes much newer technologies with fully integrated components that include activity registration, facility reservation, customer account management, financial tracking system, data reporting engine, and a point of sale system. Also included is an internet registration component that would allow online options to customers should the Department choose to provide this service; and WHEREAS, staff recommends purchasing the upgraded software which will improve customer service, improve accounting and daily close procedures, provide additional data collection options, improve reporting capabilities and ease of use by staff. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes the purchase of Safari Recreation Management Software for the Parks and Recreation Department from The Active Network, Inc. of Sacramento, California in the amount of $20,675.46.
