AGENDA TITLE: Presentation by the Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission
Regarding Honoring Teens program.
MEETING DATE: December 16,1998

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Presentation.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission, in
conjunction with the Lodi Sunrise Rotary Club, Christopher J. Olsen, American Express
Financial Advisors, and Central Valley Waste Services is sponsoring a program entitled
Honoring Teens. The Lodi Youth Commission Leadership Committee selects one teen
to be awarded Teen of the Month from the applications submitted to the commission
from the general public, various schools, and church groups. This month's Teen of the
Month is Candace Bertoldi from Tokay High School and the Honorary Teen of the
Month is Jason Yarborough.

December Teen of the Month
Candace Bertoldi is developing a school -wide tutoring program for the freshman at
Tokay High. She has organized marketing and training for all of the tutors and organized
the supervision of the program. Tutoring sessions are Monday through Wednesdays from
2:15 to 3:15 p.m.
December Honorary Teen of the Month
Jason Yarborough is in a home schooling program. He is a positive young man. He has
a real concern for the elderly and for his neighborhood. Jason spends many hours
assisting people in his neighborhood. Jason spends many hours assisting people in his
neighborhood. He is very helpful at the Lodi Community Church.
