A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING
THE PURCHASE OF FOUR MOTOROLA PORTABLE RADIOS
FOR CODE ENFORCEMENT STAFF USING VEHICLE
ABATEMENT SERVICE AUTHORITY FUNDS
WHEREAS, Community Improvement Division personnel duties include abating
inoperable, wrecked, and/or dismantled vehicles from private property; and
WHEREAS, in the course of that enforcement activity, Community Improvement
personnel need to communicate to the Lodi Police Department dispatchers regarding vehicle
registration information, stolen vehicle queries, and to summon assistance when necessary;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Lodi is one of the participating jurisdictions within the San
Joaquin County Vehicle Abatement Service Authority and accordingly receives funding, which is
generated from a $1 Vehicle Registration Fee on all vehicles within San Joaquin County; and
WHEREAS, the funds received by the Service Authority is then apportioned as follows:
50% among the member agencies based on the percentage of vehicles abated by that agency
of the total number of abandoned vehicles abated by all member agencies; and 50% of the
funds apportioned among member agencies based on population and geographic area, as
determined by the Service Authority, in which the City has received a total of $16,047.92 in
revenue in this current fiscal year; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends the purchase of four (4) Motorola portable radios for
Code Enforcement staff using Vehicle Abatement Service Authority funds in the amount of
$7,762.16.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby approve
the purchase four (4) Motorola portable radios for Code Enforcement staff using Vehicle
Abatement Service Authority funds in the amount of $7,762.16.
