AGENDA TITLE: Authorize City Manager to Submit Bicycle Lane Account Grant Application for
Lodi Lake Bike Trail
MEETING DATE: January 20, 1999
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing the
City Manager to submit the Bicycle Lane Account (BLA) Grant Application
for the Lodi Lake Bike Trail.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Lodi Lake Bike Trail will serve the dual purpose of a recreational
and commuter bicycle trail (see attached map). After completion of
both phases, bicyclists will be able to circle the lake, and
Woodbridge Middle School students will have a safer route to their
homes. Also, northwest city and Woodbridge residents wishing to ride the GrapeLine will be able to ride
to bicycle parking facilities at the lake and board Route 1.
The City of Lodi is requesting $161,250 from the BLA for Phase II which is administered by Caltrans for
the federal government. The Operating Engineers is providing a $127,000 match, and the City will
contribute $30,000 from the Parks and Recreation Capital Improvement (RCIP) Account. Landscaping
costs are not eligible for BLA funding. Staff will pursue Transportation Act Enhancement funding for
landscaping.
FUNDING: Not applicable.
