HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2003-23RESOLUTION NO. 2003-23 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING USE OF ASSET SEIZURE FUNDS TO PURCHASE LAB SAFETY EQUIPMENT AND YEARLY PHYSICALS FOR FIVE INVESTIGATORS --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHEREAS, the Special Investigations Unit made up of six Lodi Police Department officers are trained to investigate cases involving clandestine laboratories; and WHEREAS, these officers need to be properly equipped in order to deal with these extremely hazardous situations; and WHEREAS, this Unit investigates 8 to 10 clandestine laboratories per year that contain toxic chemicals and hazardous materials; and WHEREAS, the safety equipment listed below will provide for a higher level of safety for the Special Investigations Unit, as well as complying with OSHA requirements: Tychem SL Coveralls 30 sets@ $20.00 $ 600.00 Saranex Boot Covers 60 pair @ $ 3.00 $ 180.00 Stansol Nitrile Gloves 60 pair @ $ 2.50 $ 150.00 Scott Air Filters 30 pair @ $15.00 $ 450.00 Tarps 40 @ $ 6.00 $ 240.00 Buckets 20 @ $ 7.00 $ 140.00 Duct Tape 10 rolls 0 $ 5.00 $ 50.00 Total Equipment Cost Per Year (Including tax and $150.00 shipping $2,020.00 WHEREAS, to further comply with OSHA mandates, the officers are required to undergo an annual physical conducted at UCD Medical Center Occupational Health Services to determine fitness for respirator use; and WHEREAS, this specialized physical is outside of what would normally be covered by City health care providers at an approximate cost of $300.00 each (Cracnet covers the cost of one physical). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Lodi City Council does hereby approve the purchase of lab safety equipment and yearly physicals for five investigators of the Lodi Police Department utilizing $3,520.00 from the Asset Seizure Funds.
