AGENDA TITLE: Presentation by the Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission
Regarding Honoring Teens program.
MEETING DATE: January 20, 1999

RECOMMENDED ACTION: Presentation.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Greater Lodi Area Youth Commission, in
conjunction with the Lodi Sunrise Rotary Club, Christopher J. Olsen, American Express
Financial Advisors, and Central Valley Waste Services is sponsoring a program entitled
Honoring Teens. The Lodi Youth Commission Leadership Committee selects one teen
to be awarded Teen of the Month from the applications submitted to the commission
from the general public, various schools, and church groups. This month's Teen of the
Month is Chris Morita from Tokay High School and the Honorary Teen of the Month
is Toni Hoang from Tokay High School.

January Teen of the .Month
Chris Morita is a senior at Tokay High. Chris strives for excellence academically. He is
the commissioner of Tokay's Link Crew and he can handle any situation very well and
does it positively. He is co-chairing a major fundraiser dance and assists freshmen that
need individual help on his own without being asked. He is a strong community
supporter. He is an interpreter for visiting dignitaries from Kofu, Japan out Sister City.
January Honorary Teen of the Month
Toni Hoang is a junior from Tokay high. She is an excellent student and is always very
curious to know more and to do her best. She is a link crew leader and works very hard to
support her freshmen. She has volunteered at a local hospital for at least two years.
