HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2002-104RESOLUTION NO. 2002-104 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZNIG THE CITY MANAGER TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFITS PROGRAM GRANT FOR THE LODI SMALL BUSINESS ENERGY SERVICES PARTNERSHIP IN THE AMOUNT OF $30,000.00 WHEREAS, the state has mandated that beginning January 1, 1998, the City of Lodi is obligated to fund various programs through a Public Benefits Charge (PBC) based on a historical electric revenue requirement; and WHEREAS, the requirement amounts to approximately $1 M per year that must be dedicated to qualifying programs such as energy efficiency. A further stipulation is that these efforts must be done on the customer's side of the meter in order to qualify; and WHEREAS, the City of Lodi's Public Benefits Program is comprised of four segments or customer groups: commercial/industrial, residential, community/non-profit, and municipal; and WHEREAS, in May 1999, the City Council approved the City of Lodi Small Business Energy Services Partnership, which provides direct energy conservation grants to small business customers on the commercial G-1 or G-2 electric utility rate schedule; and WHEREAS, the Electric Utility Department recommends funding the Lodi Small Business Energy Services Partnership grant and continuing until designated funds are exhausted. The energy services partnership works as follows: ➢ Must be a City of Lodi electric utility commercial customer (either on the G-1 or G-2 electric utility rate schedule); ➢ One rebate per customer service address (one such rebate every six months); ➢ Rebate is a dollar -for -dollar rebate of up to $350.00; ➢ The approved energy efficiency improvements include - purchase and installation of ceiling fans, attic ventilators, attic insulation, weather-stripping, awning covers, window tinting, and special projects (included in the special project category are system -wide improvements, such as lighting retrofits and/or mechanical enhancements; in this case, the rebate is 20 percent of the total purchased and installed cost of the approved energy efficiency improvements). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lodi City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager to provide Public Benefits Program funds for the Lodi Small Business Energy Services Partnership Program grant in the amount of $30,000.00.
