HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2001-255RESOLUTION NO. 2001-255 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL APPROVING THE DESIGN AND PURCHASE OF THE FIREFIGHTER MEMORIAL AT FIRE STATION #4 AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THIS PROJECT WHEREAS, Lodi Municipal Code §3.20.070 authorizes dispensing with bids for purchases of supplies, services, or equipment when it is in the best interest of the City to do so; and WHEREAS, in 2000, permission to design and place a memorial to fallen Lodi Firefighters was given by the Fire Chief; and WHEREAS, the United Firefighters of Lodi have developed and pursued honoring the fallen firefighters with a rock memorial, which is red sandstone and will have names etched on the face of the rock along with the Lodi Fire Department logo; and WHEREAS, the opening of Fire Station #4 offers the best timing for this project, and therefore the committee moved forward with choosing the rock and also received a bid for the cost of the etching; and WHEREAS, the United Firefighter's of Lodi have been asked to contribute to the memorial, and the remainder of the cost will be taken out of the construction contingency; and WHEREAS, staff recommends using a sole source purchase from Natural Rock Formation, of Valley Springs, California, due to the lack of vendors who perform this type of work. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lodi City Council hereby approves the design and purchase of the Firefighter Memorial at Fire Station #4 from Natural Rock Formation, of Valley Springs, California, in the amount of $870.34; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that funds be appropriated from the Fire Station #4 construction funding for this project.
