HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2001-261RESOLUTION NO. 2001-261 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF LODI'S PARTICIPATION IN THE WESTERN STATES CONTRACTING ALLIANCE PURCHASING PROGRAM WHEREAS, the Western States Contracting Alliance (WSCA) was formed in 1993 by state purchasing directors in fifteen western states; and WHEREAS, the primary purpose of WSCA is to establish the means by which participating states may join together in cooperative multi -state contracting in order to achieve cost-effective and efficient acquisition of quality products and services; and WHEREAS, all government entities within the fifteen states are eligible to use the WSCA agreements; and WHEREAS, WSCA contractors include IBM, Compaq, Dell, as well as Verizon Wireless and AT&T Wireless; and WHEREAS, Government Code §6502 authorizes the City to participate jointly with other public agencies in such a program, and Lodi Municipal Code §3.20.070 allows alternative methods of procurement when such methods are in the best interest of the City. The City would benefit from volume pricing as well as saving time and expense of competitive bidding on previously -bid contracts. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lodi City Council hereby authorizes the City of Lodi's participation in the Western States Contracting Alliance (WSCA) Purchasing Program.
