HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 79-168 ERRESOLUTION NO. 79-168 RESOLUTION ADOPTING REGULATIONS PERTAINING TO THE CANDIDATES STATEMENT FOR THE APRIL 8, 1980 GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION WHE'REAS, Section 10012 of the Elections Code of the State of California specifies that before the nomination period opens, the local agency for that election shall determine whether a charge shall be levied against the candidate for the Candidate's Statement; whether or not the limitation on words for such statement shall be increased from 200 to 400 words; and whether or not the candidate for elective office will be permitted to ?repare separately other materials to be sent to each voter in addition to the sample ballot and the voter's pamphlet; WHEREAS, Section 10012 of the Elections Code of the State of California further provides that a written statement of the regulations with respect to charges for handling', packaging and mailing* shall be provided to each candidate or - his representative at the time he Dicks up his nomination papers; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lodi does hereby set forth the following regu- lations pertaining to the General Municipal Election to be held April 8, 1980: a) No charges shall be levied to the candidate for the printing, translating, handling or distribution of the "Candida --els Statement". b) The "Candidatels Statement" shall be limited to a maximum of 200 words. c) Candidates for elective office will not be -Dermitted to prepare separately other materials to be sent to each voter in addition to the sample ballot and the voters pamphlet. NOW, THEREFORE, BE 1T FURTHER R7SOLVED that each candidate or his reDresentative shall be provided with a copy of this Resolution No. 79-168 at the time he picks up his nomination papers.
