HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 81-170RESOLUTION NO. 81-170 RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF PG&E RELICENSING OF ROCK CREEK/CRESTA AND MOKELUMNE PROJECTS WHEREAS, Pacific Gas and Electric Company and its customers have over the years developed dependable and reliable hydroelectric facilities on the Mokelumne and North Fork Feather Rivers; WHEREAS, the City of Santa Clara has filed to take over PG&E's Mokelumne River Project, and the Cities of Anaheim, Azusa, Banning, Colton and Riverside, together with the Northern California Power Agency have filed to take over PG&E's Rock Creek/Cresta Project on the North Fork Feather River; WHEREAS, PG&E has an efficiently integrated hydroelectric system which distributes the benefits of low-cost hydroelectric power among all of its 3.5 million customers in northern and central California; WHEREAS, PG&E's customers would be forced to pay increased costs for replacement oil fuel that could easily exceed $100,000,000 each year if these projects are not licensed to PG&E; and WHEREAS, continued operation of these projects by PG&E is essential to the fullest possible utilization of these resources in the public interest, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lodi vigorously opposes the efforts of Santa Clara, Anaheim, Azusa, Banning, Colton, Riverside and NCPA to take over Rock Creek/Cresta and Mokelumne Projects; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lodi strongly supports PG&E's efforts to relicense its hydroelectric plants including the Mokelumne and Rock Creek/Cresta Projects.
