A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZNIG THE CITY
MANAGER TO RENEW THE PUBLIC BENEFITS PROGRAM - LODI
SMALL BUSINESS ENERGY SERVICES PARTNERSHIP GRANT
IN THE AMOUNT OF $50,000

WHEREAS, the State has mandated that beginning January 1, 1998, the City of Lodi is
obligated to fund various programs through a Public Benefits Charge (PBC) based on a historical
electric revenue requirement; and
WHEREAS, the requirement amounts to approximately $1 M per year that must be dedicated
to qualifying programs such as energy efficiency. A further stipulation is that these efforts must be
done on the customer's side of the meter in order to qualify; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lodi's Public Benefits Program is comprised of four segments or
customer groups: commercial/industrial, residential, community/non-profit, and municipal; and
WHEREAS, in May 1999, the City Council approved the City of Lodi Small Business Energy
Services Partnership, which provides commercial customers on a G-1 electric utility rate, a dollar -for -
dollar rebate of up to $500 for the purchase and installation of various energy conservation measures.
Those specific measures include lighting retrofits, shade screens and awning covers, window tinting,
ceiling fans and attic ventilators, insulation and weather-stripping, special projects such as major
HVAC system replacements or upgrades, and HVAC/refrigeration diagnostic and preventative
maintenance service; and
WHEREAS, rebates will be available from September 5, 2001 and until such time as the funds
are exhausted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lodi City Council hereby authorizes the City
Manager to renew the Public Benefits Program - Lodi Small Business Energy Services Partnership
Grant in the amount of $50,000; and
