HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2001-226RESOLUTION NO. 2001-226 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL SUPPORTING WOODBRIDGE IRRIGATION DISTRICT LOWER MOKELUMNE RIVER RESTORATION PROGRAM AND CITY PARTICIPATION IN CONSTRUCTION ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ WHEREAS, the Woodbridge Irrigation District and the City of Lodi have been working together as partners for over two years on the Lower Mokelumne River Restoration Program, with support from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, East Bay Municipal Utilities District, California Department of Fish and Game, National Marine Fishery Service, United States Fish and Wildlife Service, and the United States Bureau of Reclamation; and WHEREAS, they have been working to complete the environmental permitting and engineering design of the fish passage project; and WHEREAS, this project includes an adjustable dam and weir, fish ladders, fish screen, new water diversion structures, and new monitoring facilities, at an approximate cost of $20 million; and WHEREAS, the long-term benefits of the project include improved fish passage, improved water quality, flood control assistance, fish and wildlife preservation, recreation, and preservation of Lodi Lake; and WHEREAS, the Mokelumne River Restoration Project will benefit Lodi residents and visitors as well as the environment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Lodi does hereby support the Woodbridge Irrigation District Lower Mokelumne River Restoration Program; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Lodi does hereby commit $50,000.00 from the Fiscal Year 2002103 Budget toward construction.
