HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 2001-89RESOLUTION NO. 2001-89 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE SOLE -SOURCE PURCHASE OF ELECTRICAL SERVICE BOXES AND CONCRETE VAULTS AS NEEDED FOR SUBDIVISION INSTALLATION DURING 2001 WHEREAS, Lodi Municipal Code, Section 3.20.070, authorizes dispensing with bids for purchases of supplies, services or equipment when it is in the best interests of the City to do so; and WHEREAS, the Electric Utility Department's Engineering Division is preparing work orders to install underground electric distribution facilities in several new developments within the City; and WHEREAS, the subdivisions planned for service installation are Century Meadows #1 Unit 2, Century Meadows #4 Unit 2, Tienda Place Units A & B, the Parisis subdivision in Grid 58, and the Beck/Perlegos subdivision in Grid 58; and WHEREAS, Carson Industries is a global manufacturer of one of the most durable, well-designed grade -level service boxes available, and is the only producer in California supplying the molded structural foam service box specified by the Electric Utility Department's Engineering Division. During 2001, subdivision installations require that the Department buy the following items from Carson Industries: 144 each 13" x 24" Service Box #1 324153BGE20AU 1 $ 9,966.24 20 each 13" x 24" Service Box Cover $ 642.40 Total cost of purchases from Carson Industries $10,608.64 WHEREAS, Utility Vault Company has six concrete electrical vault manufacturing plants on the West Coast, including one in Pleasanton. The company is the only local manufacturer that meets the City's landscape and sidewalk design specifications for concrete vaults. Requirements for 2001 subdivision installations are: 1 each 6 -ft modified PG&E #48 concrete vault, Spec. #09225700 $ 3,472.25 1 each steel cover for #48 concrete vault, Spec. #09225702 $ 2,472.50 4 each 4'8" concrete vault $ 2,287.60 8 cases vault sealant, in rolls $ 498.80 Total cost of purchases from Utility Vault Company $ 8,734.15 WHEREAS, staff recommends the sole -source purchase of the service boxes and concrete vaults as outlined above, in the total amount of $19,342.79. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lodi City Council hereby approves the sole -source purchase of the service boxes from Carson Industries, of La Verne, California, in the amount of $10,608; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Lodi City Council hereby approves the sole -source purchase of the concrete vaults from Utility Vault Company, of Pleasanton, California, in the amount of $8,734.15.
