HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - October 7, 1998 (98)CITY OF I,ODI COUNCII, COMMUNICATION AGENDA TITLE: Agreement with SFPP, L. P., (Santa Fe Pacific Pipelines) for Relocation of Pipeline at Multimodal Station Site MEETING DATE: October 7, 1998 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution approving the Pipeline Relocation Agreement with SFPP, L. P., for the relocation of a 10 -inch petroleum -products pipeline, authorize the City Manager to sign the Agreement on behalf of the City, and appropriate funds to cover the cost of the relocation. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: There is a 10 -inch petroleum -products pipeline located in an easement on the property recently acquired from Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR). As part of the purchase agreement with UPRR, the City agreed to honor this easement and work with SFPP to relocate the pipeline. As provided in the sale agreement, a new easement will be given to SFPP and the old one will be abandoned. The old and new location is shown on the attached Exhibit A. Note that north of Pine Street the old location bisects the property. The new location will put the pipeline adjacent to the tracks. Agreement has been reached with SFPP regarding the relocation costs and the timing of the work. The cost of the relocation is estimated to be $155,000. The City will pay SFPP half of this amount upon approval of the Agreement and the remainder when the work is completed. The pipeline relocation is considered part of Phase 3, Site Acquisition of the Multimodal Station Project. Also included as part of the site acquisition is the removal of the UPRR team track which was part of the purchase agreement with UPRR. The funds for the removal of the team track were not appropriated at the time the agreement was signed. Since this work will be done in the near future, we ask that the $26,000 for the team track removal be appropriated at this time also.
