HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - July 15, 1998 (40).tbF� 1COUNCIL • • 9<%FOF`a AGENDA TITLE: Contract Award for Tokay Street Reconstruction, Mills Avenue to Fairmont Avenue ($251,940) MEETING DATE: July 15, 1998 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution awarding the contract for the above project to Granite Construction, of Stockton, in the amount of $251,943.00, and appropriate funds in accordance with the recommendation shown below. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project consists of reconstructing approximately 113,000 square feet of asphalt concrete pavement. The Program Supplement for this project was approved October 15, 1997, by Resolution 97-159. Plans and specifications for this project were approved on January 7, 1998. The City received the following three bids for this project: Bidder Location Bid Engineer's Estimate $203,223.50 Granite Construction Company Stockton $251,943.00 Teichert Construction Stockton $252,391.00 A. M. Stephens Construction Lodi $316,210.90 FUNDING: This project is primarily funded by the Federal Intermodal Surface Transportation Enhancement Act (ISTEA) Program which will pay 88.53% of the cost of construction not to exceed $250,000.00. The balance of the cost will be funded locally through Gas Tax funds. Dixon Flynn -- City Manager 07/07/98 RESOLUTION NO. 98-111 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR TOKAY STREET RECONSTRUCTION, MILLS AVENUE TO FAIRMONT AVENUE WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of this City Council, sealed bids were received and publicly opened on May 27, 1998, at 11:00 a.m. for Tokay Street Reconstruction, Mills Avenue to Fairmont Avenue, described in the specifications, therefore approved by the City Council on January 7, 1998; and WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report thereof filed with the City Manager as follows: Bidder Location Bid Engineer's Estimate $203,223.50 Granite Construction Company Stockton $251,943.00 Teichert Construction Stockton $252,391.00 A.M. Stephens Construction Lodi $316,210.90 WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends award of the contract for Tokay Street Reconstruction, Mills Avenue to Fairmont Avenue to the lowest bidder, Granite Construction Company of Stockton, CA. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of the contract for Tokay Street Reconstruction, Mills Avenue to Fairmont Avenue, be and the same is hereby awarded to Granite Construction Company of Stockton, CA, the lowest bidder, in the amount of $251,943.00; and follows: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funds be appropriated to cover this project as Gas Tax Fund $ 33,100 Federal Funds (331) $250,000 Dated: July 15, 1998 I hereby certify that Resolution No. 98-111 was passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Lodi in a regular meeting held July 15, 1998, by the following vote: AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS - Johnson, Land, Mann, Pennino and Sieglock (Mayor) NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS - None ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBERS - None ABSTAIN: COUNCIL MEMBERS - None ALICE M.
