HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - September 2, 1998 (28)AGENDA TITLE: No -Parking Zones on Kettleman Lane and Beckman Road, fronting Geweke's Property
MEETING DATE: September 2, 1998
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution approving the
installation of no -parking zones on the north side of Kettleman Lane, from
New Beckman Road to 90 feet west of New Beckman Road, and on the
east side of Beckman Road, from Kettleman Lane to 1,640 feet north of
Kettleman Lane, as shown on Exhibit A.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Geweke Development requested no -parking zones fronting their
Unocal 76 gas station/convenience store and their vacant lot north
of Unocal. Geweke Development has received several complaints
about large trucks causing a sight problem for the motorists exiting
the Unocal driveways. They have also requested extending the no -parking north of the driveway to the
Toyota dealership. The existing Beckman Road will become Geweke's property once New Beckman Road
is finished.
There is currently a no -parking zone on the north side of Kettleman Lane, from Beckman Road to the
Unocal driveway. This 200 -foot no -parking zone was installed in November 1993 when the Beckman Road
and Kettleman Lane intersection was studied. The proposed no -parking zone would extend from the
existing no -parking zone east to the New Beckman Road to accommodate the future striping along a
widened Kettleman Lane.
FUNDING: The signs and posts will be funded by Geweke Development.
