AGENDA TITLE: Specifications and Advertisement for Bids for Front -Loading Parts Washer for
Equipment Maintenance Division
MEETING DATE: March 19, 1997

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the specifications for the above project and
authorize advertising for bids.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Public Works Equipment Maintenance Division is responsible for
maintaining and repairing almost all of the City's vehicles and
equipment. The Equipment Maintenance Shop, located at the
Municipal Service Center (MSC), currently uses a solvent -based parts
wash system that is approximately 30 years old. A new and more efficient parts washer is needed. A
solvent -free parts washer, utilizing pressurized hot water combined with biodegradable detergent, has
been specified. The pressurized spray nozzles wash the parts from multiple angles for safer and more
thorough cleaning.
The specifications are on file in the Public Works Department.
FUNDING: The money for this project will be coming from budget carryover from 1995/96. A request
for appropriation of funds will be made at contract award.
Project Estimate: $6,500
Budgeted: 1996/97 fiscal year
