HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - January 15, 1997 (61)AGENDA TITLE: Resolution of Support for the Multimodal Transit Station MEETING DATE: January 15, 1997 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution in support of the Multimodal Transit Station. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission is preparing to submit applications for release of State funds for the next phases of the construction of the Downtown Multimodal Transit Station. In addition to Federal, State and Measure K funds, some matching local funds will be necessary. Based on the previous estimates for the entire project, the amount of local funds is approximately $200,000. In order to apply for the State funds, the City needs to make a commitment regarding these funds. While we do not have to lock ourselves to a specific funding source at this time, we do need to state our willingness to allocate local discretionary funds toward the project. A funding breakdown of the entire project is shown on the attached table. The primary local funding source would be Transportation Development Act (TDA) funds. We may be able to use our Federal Transit Capital (Section 9) allocation which only requires a 20 percent local match. Staff will make a formal recommendation as part of the next budget. FUNDING: None needed at this time. )JaacL. Ronsko c Works Director Prepared by Richard C.
