AGENDA TITLE: Purchase of Replacement Photocopier for the Fire Department
($9,850.50)

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution awarding the bid
for the purchase of one replacement photocopier, to be installed in
the Fire Department's administrative offices, to the low bidder,
Business Office Systems of Stockton, in the amount of $9,850.50.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: On November 20, 1996, the City Council approved specifications
and authorized advertisement for bids for one replacement
photocopier for the Fire Department. The new unit is intended to
replace two older copiers, a Minolta 4300 purchased in 1989, and a
Minolta 4230 purchased in 1991.
A total of ten bids were received from four bidders. Bids were opened on December 23, 1996, and were evaluated
on compliance with specifications and estimated total cost of operation over a 5'/, -year period. Total cost of
operation includes purchase price, cost of consumables (except paper), and cost of maintenance.
A summary of each proposal, and of estimated total cost of operation for each unit, is attached as Exhibit A.

A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL
AWARDING THE BID FOR THE PURCHASE OF PHOTOCOPIER
FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and
the order of this City Council sealed bids were received and publicly opened on
December 23, 1996 at 11:00 a.m. for the purchase of a replacement photocopier
for the Fire Department, described in the specifications, therefore approved by the
City Council on November 20, 1996; and
WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a
report thereof filed with the City Manager as shown on the attached marked
Exhibit A; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends award of the bid for the
purchase of a replacement photocopier for the Electric Utility Department to the
lowest bidder, Business Office Systems of Stockton, CA; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the
award of the bid for the purchase of a replacement photocopier for the Fire
Department, be and the same is hereby awarded to Business Office Systems of
Stockton, CA, the lowest bidder, in the amount of $9,850.50.
