A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF THREE PHYSIO -CONTROL LIFEPAK 300 AUTOMATIC
DEFIBRILLATORS FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT'S
EMT- 1-D DEFIBRILLATOR PROGRAM
WHEREAS, Lodi Municipal Code, Section 3.20.070, authorizes dispensing with bids for purchases
of supplies, services or equipment when it is in the best interests of the City to do so; and
WHEREAS, on May 3, 1995 the City Council authorized the Fire Chief and Purchasing Officer to
advertise for bids for the purchase of three automatic defibrillators; and
WHEREAS, using a recent bid at Tracy Rural County Fire District as a benchmark, the Purchasing
Officer sought contract information from the County of Los Angeles (one of the largest users of defibrillation
equipment in California) to determine which method of purchase would assure the best pricing for the City of
Lodi; and
WHEREAS, Fire Department staff sought to determine which equipment would best serve the needs
of the community by contacting American Medical Response and the Woodbridge Fire District; and
WHEREAS, it was ascertained that both American Medical Response and Woodbridge Fire District
use Physio -Control defibrillators and compatibility with their equipment would be a factor; and
WHEREAS, staff determined that standardized equipment would enable transfers from the first
response team to American Medical Response with virtually no loss of time or monitoring capability; and
WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of staff to purchase three Physio -Control LifePak 300 units at
the cost of $27,760.32 through the Purchase Agreement between the County of Los Angeles and Physio -
Control Corporation; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Lodi City Council hereby approves the purchase
of three Physio -Control LifePak 300 units with accessories through the Los Angeles County Agreement in
the amount of $27,760.32.
