HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 95-77RESOLUTION NO. 95-77 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO ASSEMBLY BILL 318 WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 318, being sponsored by Assemblyman Richard Katz (D - Sylmar); and WHEREAS, this bill restricts the ability of cities to transfer revenue from their electric and water utilities to the City's General Fund; and WHEREAS, such a restriction would impose on the City of Lodi an annual loss in General Fund revenue of approximately $4.72 million (approximately 25%); and WHEREAS, the results of such a loss would impact dramatically on all City services, including public safety; and WHEREAS, this legislation represents a serious intrusion by the State into local rate setting authority; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lodi hereby expresses its strongest opposition to Assembly Bill 318 and urges the State Senate to join in this opposition.
