HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - July 1, 1998COUNCIL • • AGENDA TITLE: Contract Award for White Slough Water Pollution Control Facility (WSWPCF) Holding Pond No. 1 Embankment Rehabilitation ($91,310) MEETING DATE: July 1, 1998 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution awarding the contract for the above project to Asta Construction, of Rio Vista, in the amount of $91,313.25, and appropriate funds in accordance with the recommendation shown below. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project consists of the excavation of eroded soil from the pond bottom, placement and compaction of eroded soil on the embankments of Holding Pond No. 1, the installation of riprap on the slopes, and other incidental and related work as shown on the plans and specifications for the project. Plans and specifications for this project were approved on May 6, 1998. Davis Construction Fremont $186,815.00 This project is included in the 1998/99 Financial Plan and Budget; however, the budgeted amount of $85,000.00 is not sufficient to cover all the construction costs. Staff is recommending that $20,000.00 from the WSWPCF boiler replacement project be transferred to the WSWPCF Holding Pond No. 1 Embankment Rehabilitation Project to fund the project. The boiler replacement project at White Slough has been completed and funds for this budgeted item are available for the Holding Pond No. 1 Embankment Rehabilitation Project. Dixon Flynn -- Citf Manager 06/16/98 RESOLUTION NO. 98-106 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AWARDING THE BID FOR WHITE SLOUGH WATER POLLUTION CONTROL FACILITY HOLDING POND NO. 1 EMBANKMENT REHABILITATION WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of this City Council sealed bids were received and publicly opened on May 27, 1998, at 11:00 a.m. for the White Slough Water Pollution Control Facility Holding Pond No. 1 Embankment Rehabilitation, described in the specifications, therefore approved by the City Council on May 6, 1998; and WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report thereof filed with the City Manager as follows: Biddle r Location Bid Engineer's Estimate $148.995.00 Asta Construction Rio Vista $ 91,313.25 Moody Construction Sacramento $123,623.50 A. Davis Construction Fremont $186,815.00 WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends award of the bid for White Slough Water Pollution Control Facility Holding Pond No. 1 Embankment Rehabilitation, to the lowest bidder, Asta Construction of Rio Vista, CA; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of the bid for White Slough Water Pollution Control Facility Holding Pond No. 1 Embankment Rehabilitation, be and the same is hereby awarded Asta Construction of Rio Vista, CA, the lowest bidder, in the amount of $91,313.25; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that $105,000.00 be appropriated from the Wastewater Capital Fund to cover this project.
