HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolutions - No. 97-111RESOLUTION NO. 97-111 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF SPORTS LIGHTING EQUIPMENT FOR SALAS PARK SPORTS AREA ---------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------- WHEREAS, Lodi Municipal Code, §3.20.070, authorizes dispensing with bids for purchases of supplies, services or equipment when it is in the best interests of the City to do so; and WHEREAS, earlier this year the City completed a renovation of the outfield at Tony Zupo Field, which was necessary to bring the field to acceptable standards following the conclusion of the 1996-97 junior tackle football program; and WHEREAS, having made this investment in Zupo Field, staff feels that it is prudent to move the football program to another sports facility for upcoming seasons; and WHEREAS, Salas Park's northeast corner was selected as the best available alternative to Zupo Field, but that section of the park is not currently lighted; and WHEREAS, Musco Lighting has provided lighting systems for a number of Lodi's facilities, including Peterson Park, Hale Park, Armory Park, Kofu and Salas Parks; and WHEREAS, staff recommends a sole -source purchase of the lighting through Musco Lighting of Muscatine, Iowa in the amount of $18,748.50. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lodi does hereby authorize the sole -source purchase of sports lighting equipment for the Salas Park Sports Area from Musco Lighting of Muscatine, Iowa in the amount of $18,748.50.
