Ham Lane to California Street, Lodi, California. The matter was introduced by Public Works Director Ronsko who presented diagrams of the subject area. RES. NO. 82-40 Mr. Ronsko and Associate Civil Engineer Richard Prima detailed various alternates, talked about City standards, traffic, parking and responded to questions as were posed by the Council. There being no other persons wishing to speak on the matter, the public portion of the hearing was closed. A lengthy discussion followed with questions being directed to Staff and to those w} o had -given testimony. .: Continued May 5, 1982 1 On motion of Council A:e;nber Snider, Olson second Council adopted Resolution No. 82-40 rescinding the removal of parking on the north side of Lockeford Street, and adopting Alternate 2 as outlined by Staff, with the modifications shown on Alternate 5 in the area of California Street. 01, RESOLUTION NO. 82-40 RESOLUTION 32 - WHICH DES SIDE OF LOCKEFORD STREET FROM CALIFORNIA STREET TO 100 FEET WEST OF CRESCENT AVENUE; AND 200 FEET EAST OF FAIRMONT AVENUE TO 250 FEET WEST OF FAIRMONT AVENUE; AND ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF LOCKEFORD STREET FROM CALIFORNIA STREET TO 160 FEET WEST OF CALIFORNIA STR^ET, LODI RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Lodi does hereby rescind Resolution No. 82-19, which designated "No Parking" on the north side of Lockeford Street from California Street to 100 feet west of Crescent Avenue and 200 feet east Of Fairmont Avenue to 250 feet west of Fairmont Avenue; and on the south side of Lockeford Street from California Street to 160 feet west of California Street, Lodi, California. Pine Street, Lodi, California, regarding the Lockeford Street Improvement Project, Ham Lane to California Street, Lodi, California, to determine the design project. The Project includes: Reconstructing the Pavement Improving Drainage Possible Street Widening On March 10, 1982, the Lodi City Council adopted a project that would not require any street widening and would establish "No Parking" on portions of the north side of the street. Information regarding this item may be obtained by contacting Richard Prima, Associate Civil Engineer at City Hall. E CjTy a Last month T attended the City oun _ when C MY40 you last discussed the improvements and possible a widening of Lockeford Street. I failed to say anything stating my approval of having no parking On the north side of Lockeford since I felt that would be the action of the council. I will be out of Lodi on May 5th and would like to state that I still prefer the no parking on the north *--44-t side of Lockeford Street rather than the widening. If you take out the strip between the curb and sidewalk I will lose several trees and the street will be much closer to my frontdoor. I , f 1 j For over thirty years I have watched our city grow in a very orderly manner. I expressed my objection to the expansion of Loekeford Street in the Fifties and the sixties, but now 3 th- ank God for the wisdota of your predicessors. Vheather age mellows, or wheather our experiences make us more understanding, I know not, but I an certain that continued growth will be inevitable in"livable, lovable, Lodi. Yes, it hurt when Ivekeford Street was widened, but we were only inobjectively viewing the issue as to it`s impact upon us at that point in time. You, our governing boor, are walled upon to wake very difficult deciasons. I emplore you to remeuber the yet unborn citizens of our city(they can not cast a vote). Their lives will be gwwtly affected by the decisions you make today. Look at Lodi today and one can readily see the many benefits we are reaping because of unselfish and vi.-donary decisions made decades also. My prayer is that your decisions match those of your predicessors. . P.S. When we the collective citize ;�6f the city find it neces- sary to take a home or even a small piece of one of our fellow citizens property; we should make certain that the ancon-eaienced citizen is fsirly and adequately compenmted.
