AGENDA TITLE: Public Works Project of the Year Recognition for City Hall Remodel
MEETING DATE: May 21, 1997
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: This item is for information only. No action is required.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Our City Hall remodel project was submitted to the
American Public Works Association (APWA) for local and national
competition for Project of the Year. Nationally, our project won an
Award of Merit, in the $2-10 million structure category. Out of the
thirteen competing in this category, in addition to a winner, there were two Awards of Merit given. Our
project was just barely over the $2 million, and we feel that if we had been in a lower category, we most
assuredly would have won. The Sacramento Chapter of APWA had a local competition which
encompasses the northern 25 counties, and Lodi's City Hall remodel project won in the $2-10 million
category.
Al Colon, President of the Sacramento APWA Chapter, will be present at the May 21s` Council meeting
to present us officially with the National Award of Merit and the Chapter Project of the Year
Recognition.
