CITY OF LODI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
AGENDA TITLE: Contract Award for Vibratory Roller with Tandem Trailer for, Street Division ($34,520)
MEETING DATE: August 6, 1997

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution awarding the contract for the
above equipment to Ingersoll-Rand Equipment Sales, of Sacramento, in the
amount of $34,515.64 and appropriate funds in accordance with the
recommendation shown below.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Funds to purchase a vibratory roller with tandem trailer for the
Street Division of the Public Works Department were approved and
budgeted in the 1996/97 Equipment Replacement Fund. This unit will
replace Unit No. 135, a fully -depreciated, 1985 Raygo steel drum vibratory
roller. This unit was purchased used for $6,000.00 and has accumulated repair costs greater than $5,700.00. This
unit is used on a daily basis by Street Division personnel to perform street maintenance and suffers from excessive
down time.
Specifications for this unit were approved on June 18, 1997. The ane -percent -of -purchase -price sales tax credit was
considered in evaluating the bids to determine U.S. Rentals as the second lowest bidder. The City received the
following five bids for this unit:

RESOLUTION NO. 97-105
A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL
AWARDING THE BID FOR THE PURCHASE OF VIBRATORY
ROLLER WITH TANDEM TRAILER FOR STREET DIVISION AND
APPROPRIATING FUNDS TO COVER THIS PROJECT
WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of this City
Council, sealed bids were received and publicly opened on July 9, 1997 at 11:00 a.m. for the purchase
of Vibratory Roller with Tandem Trailer for Street Division, described in the specifications therefore
approved by the City Council on June 18, 1997; and
WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report thereof filed
with the City Manager as follows:

WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends award of the bid for the purchase of Vibratory Roller
with Tandem Trailer for Street Division, be made to the low bidder, Ingersoll-Rand Equipment Sales of
Sacramento, California; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of the bid for
the purchase of Vibratory Roller with' Tandem Trailer for Street Division, be and the same is hereby
awarded to the low bidder, Ingersoll-Rand Equipment Sales of Sacramento, California in the amount of
534,515.64; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that $35,558.00 be appropriated from the 1996197 Equipment
Replacement Fund.
