BACKGROUND INFORMATION: At its regular meeting of April 4, 2001, the City Council adopted a resolution of intention to vacate Old Beckman Road, from 325 feet to 1400 feet north of Kettleman Lane and retain a permanent easement to accommodate existing sewer mains. See Exhibit A. With the realignment of Beckman Road and construction of Business Park Drive, this section of Beckman Road is no longer needed for street purposes. In addition, the developer of the site shown as Parcel I on the exhibit, G -REM, Inc., installed an underground storm drain where an open ditch adjacent to Highway 99 was located. The right-of-way for the ditch will be abandoned at a later time. These issues will be addressed in a separate agreement with the developer of this parcel. Our intent is to merge the street and ditch property with the adjacent commercial site. The relocation of the street is in conformance with the General Plan previously approved by the Planning Commission. The only action now will be to remove the public use of the street area.
