AGENDA TITLE: Adopt Resolution of Intention to Abandon Old Beckman Road, from 325 Feet to
1,400 Feet North of Kettleman Lane, and Set Public Hearing for May 2, 2001
MEETING DATE: April 4, 2001
PREPARED BY: Public Works Director
RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt a resolution of intention to abandon Old
Beckman Road from 325 feet to 1,400 feet north of Kettleman Lane, as
shown on Exhibit A, and set it for public hearing on May 2, 2001.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: With the realignment of Beckman Road and construction of
Business Park Drive, this section of Beckman Road is no longer
needed for street purposes. In addition, the developer of the site
shown as Parcel I on the exhibit, G -REM, Inc., installed an
underground storm drain where an open ditch adjacent to Highway 99 was located. The right-of-way for
the ditch can be abandoned as well, as long as a permanent easement is retained. All of the abandoned
right-of-way will be retained as permanent easement.
The relocation of the street is in conformance with the General Plan previously approved by the Planning
Commission. An actual exchange of property will be addressed in a separate agreement with the
developer. This action is only removing the public use of the street area.
FUNDING: Not applicable.
