FOR SIX DIFFERENT OBJECTS OR PURPOSES. SAID CITY WX'ltXklbft PROPOSITIONS TO INCUR BONDED IN- WHEREBS, the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi did, on the 10th day of January, 1921, by'vote of two-thirds of the members of said board adoot a resolution determining that public interest and necessity demanded the acquisition, construction and completion of the following municipal improvements in said city, to-wit : (1) The acquisition, construction and cmpletion of additions to the water works, including additional water mains; (2) The acquisition, construction and completitln of storm sewers; (3) The acquisition, anstruetion and completion of additions to the sanitary sewers; (4) The acquisition of additional fire apparatus; (5) The acquisitibn, conslxuction and hompletion of water mins and fire hydrants on Sacramento and Main Streets, €or better fire protection; (6) The acquisition and construction of additional electrical equipment for the municipal electric pl$nt. AND WHEREAS, said board resolved further that the cost of each and all of the aforegaid municipal improvements would be toc great to be paid out of the ordinary annual income and revenue of said city, NOW THE€EFORE, the Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi do OP \ dain as follows: Section 1,- A specid election is hereby called and ordered to be held in the City of Lodi, State of California, on Tuesday, February 15th , 1921, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters -1- of said city six (6) propositions to incur bonded aebts by said city for the acquisition, construction and completion of the aforesaid municiDa1 improvements. IPhe estimated cost of proposition numbered (1) aforementioned , to-wit, the acquisition, construction and completion of additions to the water works of said city, including additional water mains, and the amount of the principal of the indebtedness to be incurred therefor is SeYeY1iThousand Dollars ($~O,OOO) ; and the rate of in- terest to be paid on said indebtedness shall not exceed six (6) per centum per annum, payable semi-annually. t;g The estimated cost of proposition numbered (2) aforementioned, to-wit, the acquisition, construction and completion of storm sewers for said city, and the amount of the principal of the inaebtedness to be incurred therefor, is STCty/Thousal3a Dollars ($66,000); an8 Five . the rate of interest to be paid on said indebtedness shall not ex- ceed six (6) per centum per annum, payable semi-annually; me estimated cost of proposition numbered (3) aforementionea, to-wit, the acquisition, cmstruction and completion of additions to the sanitary sewers of said city, and of the indebtedness to be incurred Thonsand Dollars of the principal @$S,OOO); and th4 rate of interest to be paid on said indebtedness shall not exceed six ( 6) per centum per annum, payable semi-annually. The estimated cost of proposition numbered (4) aforementioned, to-wit, the acquisition of aaditional fire apparatus by said city, and the amount of the principal of the indebtedness to be incurred therefor is Ten. The estimated cost of proposition numbered (5) aforementioned, to-wit, the acquisition, construction and completion of water mains and fire hydrants on Sacramento &Z%W.% and &in Street in said city, for better fire protection, and the amount of the principal of the - 2- indebtedness to be incurred therefor is sen Tnousana uoaars ~~plu,vvv~; and the'rate of interest to be paia on said indebtedness shall not ex- ceed six (6) per centum per amm, payable semi-annually. Sec. 2.- The special election hereby called and Ordered tQ be had shall be held and c&ducted, and the votes thereat received and canvassed, and the returns thereof made, and the result thereof ascertained, determined and declared as herein provided, and in all particulars not recited herein, according to the laws of the State of California providing for and governing elections in the City of Lodi; and the polls for such election shall be and remain open during the time required by said laws. The ballots to be used at said special election shall be such as may be required by law to be used thereat, and in addition to any other matter required by lam to be printed thereon, shall appear thereon the following: MUNICIPAL TICaT. To vote for a proposition, and thereby authorize the incurring of a bonded debt to the amount of, an& for the purpose stated therein, stamp a cross (XI in the voting square after the word. Sample ballotscontaining the above matter required to be printea thereon shall be supplied to theelectors of said city by the city clerk, but the failure on the part of any elector to receive such sample bal- lot shall not be held to invalidate the election or affect fin any man- ner the legality of any bonds that mag be authorized thereat. Sec. 3,- Any qualified elector of the City of Lodi may +ote at said special election for or against the propositions herewith submitted. To vote in favor of, and to authorize the incurring of a bonded debt for the purpose set forth in a proposition, he or she shall stamp a cross (XI in the voting square to the right of the ward "YES" printed op- posite such proposition, and to vote against and refuse to authorize the incurring of a bonded debt for the purpose set forth in a prop- osition, he or she shall stamp a cross (XI in the voting square to the right of the word "NO" printed opposite such proposition. A cross (X) stamped in the voting square to the right of the word "YES" shall be counted as a vote in favor of, and to authorize the incurring of a bonded debt for the purpose set forth in eaa proposition; and a cross (XI stamped in'the voting square to the right of the word "NO" shall be counted as a vote not in favor of, and a refusal to authorize the incurring of a bonded debt for the purpose set forth in smk proposition. NI. of said day, when the polls shall be closed except as provided in Section 1164 of the PbliticaJ. Code of the State of Californi&. The City Clerk rhs hereby directed to procure all supplies / that may be necessary to properly and lawfully conduct said election. When the polls are closed the officers of election shall count the ballots cast at saia election, and canvass the votes cast respectively for and against the propositions herein statea, and make retarn thereof to the Board of City Trustees in time, form and manner required fos the coqting, canvassing and returning of votes cast at other municipal elections held in said City of Lodi. Such bonds shall be of the form and character known as "serials" and at least one-fortieth part of the principal sum Of such indebtedness will be paid each and every year in gold coin of the United States until all of said bonds are paid, See. 6.- This ordinance shall be published once a week for two successive weeks prior to said day of election in the Lodi Sentinel, a newspaper of general circnlation, printed, published and circulated less tlmn six days a week in said city, and this ordinance an8 such publication thereof shall constitute the notice of said election. See. 7.- This ordinance shall take ef7fect immediately.
