AGENDA TITLE: Contract Award for Century Boulevard Street Overlay (Ham Lane to Church Street) and
Turner Road Street Overlay (Beckman Road to East End of Turner Road)

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution awarding the contract for
the above project to Teichert Construction, of Stockton, in the amount of
$256,545.62 and appropriate funds in accordance with the recommendation
shown below.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project consist of installing 5,140 tons of asphalt concrete overlay,
37,000 square yards of pavement reinforcing fabric, wheelchair ramps,
miscellaneous traffic striping, and other incidental and related work, all as
shown on the plans and specifications for the project. This project also
includes bike lanes per the 1994 Lodi Bicycle Transportation Master Plan.
At its regularly scheduled meeting on May 21,1997, City Council approved the Turner Road striping layout
which will install a temporary no -parking zone on Turner Road. Staff will present alternate layouts for
Century Boulevard at the July 2, 1997 City Council meeting. In order to receive the State/Local Partnership
funding, the contract must be awarded prior to June 30, 1997.
Plans and specifications for this project were approved on May 7, 1997. The City received the following three
bids for this project:

RESOLUTION NO. 97-79
A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AWARDING THE
CONTRACT FOR CENTURY BOULEVARD STREET OVERLAY (HAM
LANE TO CHURCH STREET) AND TURNER ROAD STREET OVERLAY
(BECKMAN ROAD TO EAST END OF TURNER ROAD, AND
APPROPRIATE FUNDS TO COVER THE PROJECT
WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the
order of this City Council seated bids were received and publicly opened on June 4, 1997
at 11:00 a.m., for Century Boulevard Street Overlay (Ham Lane to Church Street) and
Turner Road Street Overlay (Beckman Road to East End of Turner Road); and
WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report
thereof filed with the City Manager as follows:

WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends award of the bid for Century
Boulevard Street Overlay (Ham Lane to Church Street) and Turner Road Street Overlay
(Beckman Road to East End of Turner Road), be made to the low bidder, Teichert
Construction Co. of Stockton, CA; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of
the bid for Century Boulevard Street Overlay (Ham Lane to Church Street) and Turner
Road Street Overlay (Beckman Road to East End of Turner Road), be and the same is
hereby awarded to Teichert Construction Co. of Stockton, CA, the low bidder, in the
amount of $256,545.62; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that funds be appropriated to cover this project as
follows:
Street Fund (TDA) $249,000.00
State -Local Transportation Partnership Program Funds $ 33,000.00
