AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LODI AMENDING LODI CITY CODE
CHAPTER 27 "ZONING ORDINANCE" BY AMENDING SECTIONS 27-7
AND 27-8 OF SAID CODE AND THEREBY ELIMINATING MEDICAL
OFFICES AS A PERMITTED USE IN THE R-3 AND R-4 RESIDENTIAL
ZONES AND LIMITING A BEAUTY SHOP WITHIN A HOME TO ONE
OPEBATOR.
The City Council of the City of Lodi does ordain as follows:
Section 1. Subsection (a) of Section 27-7 of the Lodi City
Code is hereby amended to read in full as follows:
(a) uses permitted.
1. All uses permitted in the R-2 District as provided in
subsection (a) with the same regulations applicable thereto, except
that the uses listed under subsection (a), paragraph (31, shall be
permitted without the requirement for securing a use permit, and
except as hereinafter provided.
2. Multiple-family dwellings and dwelling groups, subject
to the area limitations hereinafter prescribed.
3. Private schools and nurseries (not plant).
4. The following additional uses subject to securing a use
permit in each case:
(i) State certified family plan homes with a capacity
for not more than five persons to be admitted as guests or
boarders.
(ii) Rest homes and convalescent homes, excepting those
for the care of mental patients.
(iii) Beauty parlors; provided that: (1) There shall
be not more than one operator and the shop located within her
own home; (2) Signs shall be limited as for home occupations;
and (3) Nb addAtional-employees shall be permitted.
Section 2, Subsection (a) of Section 27-8 of the Lodi City Code
is hereby amended to read in full as follows:
(a) Uses permitted.
1. All uses permitted in the R-3 District with the same regu-
lations applicable thereto, except as hereinafter provided.

2. Multiple-family dwellings, bungalow courts and dwelling
groups.
3. Hotels, boardinghouses a.nd lodginghouses, with incidental
business permitted therein for the sole convenience of the occupants
of the building.
4. Private clubs, lodges, fraternities and sororities, and
community centers, except those organizations the chief activity
of which is a service customarily conducted as a business.

Institutions of an educational or philanthropic nature.
Nurseries and greenhouses for the propagating and cultivat-
ing of plants.
7. Accessory buildings and uses located on the same lot and
not involving the conduct of a business, including garage or parking
space as provided hereinafter.
8. The following uses subject to the securing of a use permit
in each case: Automobile camps or courts; storage garage or open-
air parking space; hospitals, rest homes, sanitariums, clinics and
other buildings for the treatment of human ailments, except mental
disorders; tea rooms; barbershops.
Section 3. This ordinance shall be published one time in the
“Lodi News Sentinel, It a daily newspaper of general circulation
printed and published in the City of Lodi and shall be in force and
take effect thirty days from and after its passage.
