HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Report - June 18, 1997 (88).•- CITY OF L0DI COUNCIL COMMUNICATION • AGENDA TITLE: Contract Award for Fairmont Avenue Street Improvements (Kettleman Lane to Vine Street) and Lockeford Street Street Improvements (500 Feet West of Ham Lane to Ham Lane, and California Street to Pleasant Avenue) ($256,380) MEETING DATE: June 18,1997 PREPARED BY: Public Works Director RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council adopt the attached resolution awarding the contract for the above project to Granite Construction Company, of Stockton, in the amount of $256,378.70 and appropriate funds in accordance with the recommendation shown below. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This project consists of installing 2,670 tons of asphalt concrete overlay, 14,290 square yards of pavement reinforcing fabric, 708 linear feet of water main, wheelchair ramps, and other incidental and related work, all as shown on the plans and specifications for the project. This project will also install water mains to eliminate dead-end lines on Lockeford Street and Fairmont Avenue. In order to receive the State/Local Partnership funding, the contract must be awarded prior to June 30, 1997. Hans and specifications for this project were procedures for street maintenance projects. Dixon Flynn -- City Manager 1 06/10/97 RESOLUTION NO. 97-78 A RESOLUTION OF THE LODI CITY COUNCIL AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR FAIRMONT AVENUE STREET IMPROVEMENTS (KETTLEMAN LANE TO VINE STREET) AND LOCKEFORD STREET STREET IMPROVEMENTS (500 FEET WEST OF HAM LANE TO HAM LANE, AND CALIFORNIA STREET TO PLEASANT AVENUE, AND APPROPRIATE FUNDS TO COVER THE PROJECT WHEREAS, in answer to notice duly published in accordance with law and the order of this City Council sealed bids were received and publicly opened on June 4, 1997 at 11:00 a.m., for the Fairmont Avenue Street Improvements (Kettleman Lane to Vine Street) and Lockeford Street Street Improvements (500 feet west of Ham Lane to Ham Lane, and California Street to Pleasant Avenue; and WHEREAS, said bids have been compared, checked, and tabulated and a report thereof filed with the City Manager as follows: Bidder Location Bids Engineer's Estimate $275.469.00 Granite Construction Co. Lodi $284,837.30 WHEREAS, the City Manager recommends award of the bid for Fairmont Avenue Street Improvements (Kettleman Lane to Vine Street) and Lockeford Street Street Improvements (500 feet west of Ham Lane to Ham Lane, and California Street to Pleasant Avenue, be made to the low bidder, Granite Construction Co. of Stockton, CA; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Lodi City Council that the award of the bid for Fairmont Avenue Street Improvements (Kettleman Lane to Vine Street) and Lockeford Street Street Improvements (500 feet west of Ham Lane to Ham Lane, and California Street to Pleasant Avenue, be and the same is hereby awarded to Granite Construction Co. of Stockton, CA, the low bidder, in the amount of $256,378.70; and follows: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that funds be appropriated to cover this project as Street Fund (TDA) Water Utility Fund (18.1) State -Local Transportation Partnership Program Funds Dated: June 18, 1997 $218,500.00 $ 35,000.00 $ 28,500.00 I hereby certify that Resolution No. 97-78 was passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Lodi in a regular meeting held June 18, 1997, by the following vote: AYES: COUNCIL MEMBERS - NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS - ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBERS - ABSTAIN: COUNCIL MEMBERS - ALICE M.
