AGENDA TITLE: Specifications and Advertisement for Bids for One -Ton Dump Truck for Street
Division

RECOMMENDED ACTION: That the City Council approve the specifications for the above unit and
authorize advertising for bids.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Funds to purchase a one -ton dump truck for the Street Division of
the Public Works Department were approved and budgeted in the
1996/97 Equipment Replacement Fund. This unit will replace
existing Unit 78, a 2 -1/2 -ton dump truck. Unit 78 is a fully
depreciated, 1982 International, Model 1850, with an odometer reading of 91,543 miles. It was
purchased for $37,073 and has accumulated repair costs of $34,230. The Street Division will have a total
of three one -ton dump trucks available for daily use. Downsizing will provide the Division with greater
flexibility for a variety of maintenance functions including the towing of rollers.
FUNDING: The money for this project will be coming from the Equipment Replacement Fund. A
request for appropriation of funds will be made at contract award.
