NO. 378 ENTITLED
AND PROVIDING PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEFUOF"
"AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE REGIS-
TRATION AND LICE~SING OF BICYCLES IN THE CITY OF LODI
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LODI DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 2 of Ordinance No. 378 is hereby amended
to read in full as follows:
"Section 2. LICENSES ISSUED. The Police Depart-
ment is hereby authorized and directed to issue,
upon written application, bicycle licenses which
shall be effective from and after the date when
issued, unless revoked or the bicycle is sold or
transferred as hereinafter set forth.
when issued, shall entitle the licensee to operate
such bicycle, for which said license has been issued,
upon all the streets, alleys, and public highways,
exclusive of the sidewalks thereof, in the City
Sdid licenses,

Section 2. Section 3 of Ordinance No. 378 is hereby amended
to read in full as follows:
"Section 3.1 LICENSE PLATES PROVIDED. The City of
Lodi shall provide license plates and seals , together
with registration cards, said license plates and
registration cards having numbers stamped thereon
in numerical order. Such license plates shall be
suitable for attachment upon the frames of bicycles,
and it shall be the duty of the Police Department to
attach one such license plate to the frame of each
bicycle and to issue a corresponding registration
card to the licensee upon the payment of the license
fee herein provided &or. Such license plate'shall

remain attached during the existence of such license.
The Police Department shall keep a record of the date
of issue of each license, to whom issued and the number
thereof.
"Section 3.2 LOST LICENSE PLATES. License plates
lost, stolen or mutilated must be immediately reported
to the Police Department and a new plate obtained
upon payment of fee of fifty (50) cents."
Section 3. Section 8 is hereby amended to read in full as
follows :
Vection 8. LICENSE FEES. The license fee to be paid
for each bicycle shall be One Dollar ($1.00) and said
license fee shall remain in effect as long as said
vehicle is registered in the name of the applicant.
In case of a teansfer, a fee of fifty cents (50#)
shall be charged for each transfer of any17.bicycle. A
fee of fifty cents (50$) shall be charged for replace-
ment of license plates lost, stolen or mutilated.
All license fees collected under this ordinance shall
be delivered to the Finance Director, City of Lodi."
Section 4. There is hereby added to Ordinance No. 378 a new
section to be numbered Section 9.1 and to read as follows:
"Section 9.1 Any bicycle, tricycle, or other device
moved by human power, placed, left, or deposited on
any portion of a public sidewalk is hereby declared
a public nuisance.
Police Department to remove such bicycle, etc., and
to take it to Police Headquarters and there to impound
it.
Authority is hereby given to the
IIAny person committing such nuisance shall be punished
by a fine of not more than Two Dollars and Fifty Cents
($2.501, and said bicycle, etc., shall not be released

until such fine be paid. Sucy bicycle, etc., may
also be released upon the depositing with the .Clerk
of the Police Court bail in said amount of Two Dollars
and Fifty Cents ($2.50) 1 Said bail, upon good cause
shown, may be returned by said Clerk upon the recom-
mendation of the Chief of Police."
Section 5. This Ordinance shall be published one time in
the Lodi News-Sentinel and shall be in force and take effect at
the time and in the manner provided by law.
