ORDINANCE NO. 481
APPROVING THE ANNEXATION OF THE NORTH-
WEST ADDITION TO THE CITY OF LODm DECLARING THAT THE SAME IS ANNEXED TO
AND MADE PART OF THE CITY OF LODI
WHEREAS, the Boundary Commission of San Joaquin County did
on the 29th day of January, 1953, approve the boundary line des-
cription of the hereinafter described territory, proposed for
annexation to the City of Lodi, as to definiteness and certainty,
and
WHEREAS, on the 18th day of February, 1953, a verified petition
requesting the annexation of said territory was accepted by the
City Council of the City of Lodi, together with the certificate
of said City Clerk that petitioners represented more than one-
fourth of the property in said territory both by area and by
assessed value; that there are less than twelve registered electors
residing therein and that said territory is contiguous to the City
of Lodi. Thereupon Resolution No. 1721, giving notice of the pro-
posed annexation and of a time and place for the hearing of protests
against annexation, was adopted by said City Council, such hearing
to be held in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, Lodi, California,
beginning at 8:OO o'clock p.m. of Wednesday, April 1, 1953, and
WHEREAS, subsequent to the adoption of said Resolution No.
1721, conforming therewith and with the provisions of the "Annexa-
tion of Uninhabited Territory Act of 1939") notice was given
owners of property within the territory proposed for annexation
by publication of said Resolution No. 1721 in newspapers of
general circulation printed and published in the City of Lodi and
in San Joaquin County outside said City and by the mailing of
notices to said property owners as is evidenced by affidavits
thereof on file and of record in the office of the City Clerk

of the City of Lodi, said publications and said mailing being com-
pleted more than twenty days prior to the date of hearing set in
Resolution No. 1721, and
WHEREAS, on the 1st day of April, 1953, at the hour of 8:OO
p,m. of said day, in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, Lodi,
California, pursuant to resolution and notice aforesaid, the City
Council of the City of Lodi did hold and conduct a public hearing
for the hearing of protests or objections against the annexation
of said territory to the City of Lodi, and said protests
heard, considered and passed upon by said City Council, and found
to have been made by owners of less than one-half of the assessed
value of the territory proposed to be annexed as shown by the last
equalized assessment roll of San Joaquin County, California, now
therefore
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LODI DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The annexation of the following described unin-
habited territory in San Joaquin County, contiguous to the City
of Lodi, designated "NORTHWEST ADDITION" is hereby approved and
the same is hereby declared to be annexed to and made part of the
City of Lodi:
A portion of the North Half of Section 2, Township 3
North, Range 6 East, Mount Diablo Base and Meridian,
San Joaquin County, and being more particularly described
as follows:
Beginning at the point of intersection between the
northerly boundary line of the right of way of the Wood-
bridge Branch Line of the Southern Pacific Railroad Co.
with the west line of the Northeast Quarter of Section 2.
T3N, R6E, M.D.B.&PI., and running northwesterly on and
along said northerly line of said railroad right of way,
said line being also the boundary line of the City of
Lodi, to its intersection with the northerly projection

of the east line of the ltWoodlake Tract", map filed
August 13, 1946, in Vol. 11, page 116, Book of Maps
and Plats, San Joaquin County Records, said point of
intersection being a corner of said City boundary line;
thence southerly along said projected east line of the
Woodlake Tract, and along said City boundary line, to
its intersection with the south line of the Southern
Pacific Co..Woodbridge Branch Line railroad right of
way, said point of intersection being a corner of said
City boundary line; thence southeasterly along said
railroad right of way, and along said City boundary
line, to the northeast corner of Lot 13 of the Gerard
Tract, map filed August 8, 1916, in Vol. 8, page 62,
Book of Maps and Plats, San Joaquin County Records,
said corner being also a corner of said City boundary
line; thence southerly along the eastline of said Lot
13 and its southerly extension, said line being also
the boundary line of the City of Lodi, to its inter-
section with the south line of Lake Street; thence
easterly along said south line of Lake Street to its
intersection with the west line of the Northeast Quarter
of Section 2, T3N, R6E, M.D.B. & M.; thence southerly
on and along the west line of said northeast quarter
to its intersection with the south line of West Locke-
ford Street, which point is also a corner of the said
City boundary line; thence easterly along said south
line of West Lockeford Street, said line being also the
present City Boundary line, 43Z06 feet, more or less,
to an iron rod at the corner of the present City boundary
line; thence northerly along said City boundary line
30 feet, more or less, to the center line of West Locke-
ford Street; thence easterly along said center line,

which line being also the boundary line of said City of
Lodi, to a corner of the present boundary line, which is
also a point 760.32 feet, more or less, from the west
line of the Northeast Quarter of said Section 2; thence
northerly along the boundary line of the City of Lodi
to its intersection with the north line of said railroad
right of way, which point is also a corner of the present
City boundary line; thence southeasterly on and along
said north line of the railroad right of way, which line
is also the present City boundary line, to the southwest
corner of the "Grant Avenue Addition", annexed to the
City of Lodi on October 24, 1949, which point is also
a corner of the present City boundary line; thence north-
erly along the present City boundary line, which line
lies 7.5 feet westerly from and parallel to the east
line of Tract 6 of Burr's Addition to Lodi, to its inter-
section with the south line of Louie Avenue, which point
is also a corner of the present City boundary line; thence
westerly along said south line of Louie Avenue and its
westerly extension, said line being also the present City
boundary line, to its intersection with the west line of
the Northeast Quarter of said Section 2, which point is
also a corner of the present City boundary line; thence
southerly on and along the west line of said quarter sec-
tion line of said Section 2, said line being also the
present City boundary line, to its intersection with the
northerly boundary line of the Southern Pacific Co. Wood-
bridge Branch Line railroad right of way and the point
of beginning.
Reference is hereby made to a map or plat on file in the
Containing 43.94 acres, more or less.

Section 2. This ordinance shall be published one time in
the "Lodi News-Sentinel", a daily newspaper of general circulation
printed and published in the City of Lodi and shall be in force
and take effect thirty days from and after its passage.
Section 3. Upon the effective date of this ordinance, the
City Clerk shall immediately prepare under seal a certified copy
of the ordinance, giving the date of its passage, and transmit
it to the Secretary of State.

regular meeting of said City Council held April 1, 1953, and
was thereafter passed, adopted and ordered to print at a regular
meeting of the City Council held April 15, 1953, by the follow-
ing vote:

NOES: Councilmen, None
