THEREOF AND REPEALING ALL OIIDIWCES BND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IPS CONPLICT HERE-
IN SO FBR AS SUCH CONEZICT ivUY EXIST.
The City Council of the City of Lodi does ordain as follows:
Section 1. The provisions set forth in "Uniform Building Codesn
1946 Edition, Copyright 1946 by the Pacific Goast Building Wficials
Conference are hereby adopted and shall obtain in all matters per-
taining to the erection, construction, enlargement, alteration, re-
pair, moving removal, conversion, demolition, occupancy, equipment,
use height, area and maintenance of buildings or structures in the
City of Lodi, California, to the issuance of building permits and
the collection of fees therefore and to the enforcement of the rules
and regulations as set forth in said Uniform Building Code, Xdition
of 1946, which Code is hereby adopted as the Building Code of the
City of Lodi, EXCEPTIHG THEREFROlbi THE FOUOWIBG SECTIONS OF SAID UNI-
FORM BUILDING CODE, which sections are hereby &%ended, and adopted as
so amended to read as follows:
SEC. 3708 (c) SIZE. Except as specified in subsection (a).
The area of any flue or vent shall be not less than the area of the
largest connection plus 3Oy0 of the areas of all additional connections
and shall have a minimum dimension of not less than two inches (Zn).
SEC. 3708 (h) 1. This subdivision of this section is hereby
eliminated and omitted from the Uniform building Code hereby adopted,
SEC. 5102 (a) AIR SUPPLY FOR COBTBUSTION. Avery room or en-
closure in which a gas furnace is installed or operated shall be pro-
vided with perrmnent ventilation which will furnish sufficient supply
of air to properly support combustion and ventilate such room or en-
closure. Unless adequate pemanent ventilation is otherwise pro-
vided for it shall consist of an opening not higher than one (1) foot
above the floor or adjoining ground level, and an opening not lower
than one il) foot below the ceiling and each of such openings shall
have an unrestricted area of at least one (1) square foot and shall
lead through unrestricted ducts to the outside of the building where
an uninterrupted supply of fresh air is assured. Such openings shall
be screened with wire screen or grills having a mesh not smaller than
one-half (*) inch in any dimension,

Section 2, The "Building ufficial" mentioned in the several sec-
tions of said Uniform Building Code shall mean the City Building
Inspector of the City of Lodi,
Section 3. Ordinance ilo, 241, entitled "An Ordinance Increasing
the Duties of the City Sngineer or' the City of Lodi by Adding the
Duties of Building Inspectorn passed and adopted April 4, 1938 is here-
by repealed, it being the purpose of the City Council to hereafter
appoint the City Building inspector and such assistant or deputy Build-
ing Inspectors as may be deeaed necessary,
Section 4, Ordinance KO. 298, identical in title with this Ordi-
nsnce but adopting the Wniform Building Code" mition of 1943 is here-
by repealed and all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
this ordinance are also here6y repealed in so far as such conflict may
exist
Section 5. This ordinance shall be published one time in The
Lodi Times, the official newspaper of this City and shall be in force
and take effect at one minute past Xidnight of June 30th, 1947.

City Council of said City on the 16th day of April, 19.47 and was
thereafter passed, adopted and ordered to print at a regular meeting
of said City Council held Kay 7, 1947 by the following vote:
