ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LODI:
The Board of Trustees of the City of Lodi do ordain as follows:
Section 1.- Any person desiring a license to conduct any business
enumerated in this ordinance shall apply to and receive from the
clerk a proper blank application and shall fill out and furnish all
information required by the Same and furnish such further information,
and do and perform all other acts required by any City ordinance
relating hereto.
The City Clerk may then for any reason he may deem proper refer '
the .appliaation to the Board of Trustees for their recommendation,
$f in his judgment no reason exist$ why the said license should not
be granted,
it shall then be the duty of the City Clerk to issue a license
under this ordinance for each person making such application and
liable to pay a license hereunder duly signed by said Clerk, and
state the amount of license thereon, the time for which the same is
issued, and the character and location of the business, etc., for
which the same is issued, and the name or names of the persons
entitled to such-license, and said City Clerk shall deliver such
license to the City Marshal for collection, taking his receipt for
the amount thereof, and the City Clerk, in stating the rate of
. license shall grade the same according to his best information and
knowledge, and for that purpose may confer with persons in interest,
and may require any person to file his or her affadavit as to which
class he or she may belong, provided, that in no case shall any
mistake by the Clerk in stating the amount of said license, prevent
the collection of what shall be actually due, with all-costs, against
any one commencing or carrying on said business, show,, exhibition,
or game without a license, and provided, that any person may appeal
to the Board of Trustees, and the Board after hearing shall fix and '
determine the amount of tax required for such license.
It shall be the further duty of the City Clerk immediately after
the delinquent list has been delivered to him to make an entry of the
delinquent Ucenses and the amount thereof, and deliver the same back
to the City Marshal, whose duty it shall be to at once proceed to
collect the-same in his discretion by suit or otherwise.

Every person in any way engaged in or interested in any business,
etc., for which a license is prescribed herein shall, whenever the
same may be required by the Clerk, answer all proper questions
propounded by said Clerk respecting the matters herein prescribed,
and shall exhibit to said Clerk the books, vouchers, or other
documents of such business, etc., and shall subscribe and verify
such information given to said Clerk-by affidavit. Such license
shall be delivered to the licensee on Woper payment being made
therefor.
Section 2.- This ordinance shall Be published by printing
and posting the same in at least three public places in the City pf
Lodi.
Section 3.- This ordinance shall be in force and take effect
immediately after approval and publication.
Section 4.- All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
The foregoing ordinance was introduced at an adjourhed regular
meeting held the /O 4 day of September, 1907, and was thereafter,
at a regular meeting held on the /6$ day of September, 1907,
adopted and passed by the following vote:
