AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE ERECTION, CONSTRUCTION,
ENLARGEMENT, ALTERATION, WPAIR, MOVING, REMOVAL,
CONVERSION, DEMOLITION, OCCUPANCY, EQUIPMENT, USE,
HEIGHT, AREA AND MAINTEbTANCE OF BUILDINGS OR STRUC-
TURES IN THE CITY OF LODI, CALIFORNIA; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF PER&!ITS AND COLLECTION OF FEES
THEFCEFORE; DECLARING AND ESTABLISHING FIRE DISTRICTS;
PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEWOF AND
REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.
WHEREAS, on the first day of January, 1944, three
copies of that certain code printed in book form entitled
"UNIFORM BUILDING CODE 1943 EDITION", published May 1, 1943
by Pacific Coast Building Officials Conference, hereinafter
referred to as the "Building Code" were filed in the office
of the City Clerk of the City of Lodi in conformance with the
provisions of Chapter 190 of the Statutes of 1927;
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LQDI DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Pages numbered thirty-three (33) to and
including page two hundred seventy-nine (279) of the said
Building Code are by this reference incorporated in and made
part of this ordinance as and for the building code of the
City of Lodi and the same shall apply in all matters set forth
in the title hereof, save and except the following:
Exception (a) Section 203, page 36; in that part
of said Section 203 relating to the amount of a building permit
fee, change "For a total valuation of $50.00 or less no fee"
to read "For a total valuation of @50.00 or less, a fee of $l,OO'l.
This change shall not affect the remaining portions of this
section, the said remaining portions being adopted hereby as
printed and made part of this Building Code.

Exception (b) Section 305, page 42; the first paragraph
of said Section 305 shall be altered and amended to read as
follows: "In order to determine the suitabil4ty of alternate
materials and types of construction and to provide for reasonable
interpretations of the provisions of this Code, there shall be
and is hereby created a Board of Examiners and Appeals, consisting
of five members who are qualified by experience and training to
pass upon matters pertaining to building construction. The
Building Inspector shall be an ex-officio member and shall act
as Secretary to the Board. The Board of Examiners and Appeals
shall be appointed by the Mayor and shall hold office at his
pleasure. The Board shall adopt reasonable rules and regulations
for conducting its investigations and shall render all decisions
and findings in writing to the Building Inspector with a
duplicate copy to the Appellant and mzy recomend to the City
Council such new legislation as is consistent therewith.'' The
second paragraph of said Section 305 shall not be affected
hereby, being adopted as printed and made part of this Building
Code.
Exception (c) Section 3704, page 226; the first
paragraph of this section forbidding the use of patent chimneys
for oil burners is hereby deleted and the remaining portions of
this section are hereby adopted as printed and made part of
this Ekilding Code.
Exception (d) Chapters 48 and 49 of Part XI, page 277
being Sections No. 48O&, 4802 and Sections 4901 and 4903 inclusive
are hereby deleted from this Building Code.

Exception (a) Section 6003, page 279; This Section is
hereby amended to read as follows:
adopted July 11, 1921 and 241 adopted April 4, 1938 and all
ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
