HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances - No. 295ORDIITAMCE NG'. 295 RELATING TO "LOADING ZONES" __ __II_ The City Council of the City of Lodi does ordain as follows : SECTIOW 1. Ordinance No. 137 entitled "An Ordinance Regulating Traffic and Parking of Automobiles Upon the Streets in the City of Lodi, Providing a Penalty for Violation Thereof, and Repealing all Ordinances in Conflict Therewith" adopted December lb, 1922 is hereby amended by addins thereto a section to be krown as Section 16, to read as follows: Section 16. For the purposes of this ordinance, a "Loading Zone" is defined as that space adjacent to a curb reserved for the exclusive use of vehicles during the loading or unloading of passengers or materials. The City Council, on recommendation of the Chief of Police, shall define and establish loading zones at such places as best suits the public con- venience by resolution or resolutions adopted from time to time. Such loading zones shall be marked with yellow paint in accordance with the provisions of paragraph (b) of Section il72 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California and the curbing or street . surface included therein shall be designated by the words "Loading Only" or "Loading Zone" in letters at least six inches in height. It shall be unlawful for the operator of a vehicle to stop said vehicle for a period of time longer than is necessary for the loading or un- loading of passengers or materials, provided that -1- the loading or unloading of passengers shall not consume more than five (5) minutes nor the loading or unloading of materials more than thirty (30) minutes; and it shall be unlawful for any person, not unloading passengers or materials to park any vehicle in any such loading zone.
