HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances - No. 230ORDINANCE NO. 230 An Ordinance Establishing the Office of City Engineer, Combining the Same with the Office of Superintendemt of Streets, and Fixing his Duties and Compensation. The City Council. of the City of Lodi does ordain as follows: 1, There is hereby established the office of City Ebgineer of and lor the City of Lodi, California, who shall also he ex-officio Super- intendent of Streets, 2. The duties of the City Engineer shall be to do all surveying and engineering work for the city, prepare plans and specifications for public vrorks and improvements, give engineering services and advice to the City and its officers and eqloyees, and to perform such other service of an engineering nature as my be required of him by the Counci. He shsll also perform all the duties appertaining to the office of Superintendent of Streets as may be prescribed by law or by ordinance. 3. at the first regular meeting of the Council jn January of each year and shall serve for a term of one yea.r thereafter or until his successor is appointed and qualified, The City Engineer shall be appointed by tb Coucil annuslly 4. The salary of the City Engineer shall be Gne an8 one-half ' ($1.50) Dollars per hour for all his time devoted to the auties of his office, in addition to which he shall receive five cents per mile for each mile traveled by automobile and his necessary expenses in performing his official duties, 5. Within five days after his appointment, each city Engineer shall take and subscribe an oath of office in the usual form and shall execute and file with the City Clerk a bond, approved by the Mayor, in the penal sum of $500.00 conditioned that he will we11 and truly perform the duties of his officeo \ 6. This ordinance shall be published once in the Lodi News- Sentinel and shall be in force thirty days from and after its final publication, passage and adoption.
